Most recent project advancements
The team just finished the last modifications on the car. After a year of hard work, we are proud to present Eclipse X.1! We will start testing as early as next week. We are ready for WSC 2019!
Eclipse now has a newsletter! It is the best way to stay in tune with the our club’s most recent advancements. Click here for our winter 2019 newsletter.
How do solar cars work?
The new vehicule Eclipse X is powered by 4 meters squares of silicium solar cells that boast an efficiency of 24,3% while driving. An additionnal 2 meters squares of soalr cells are added when the vehicule stops to recharge.
Eclipse X, holds a battery composed of 416 lithium-ion cells which together have a capacity equivalent to 5000 Watts/hour. This battery will hold the energy produced by our solar panels and by our motor when we are employing regenerative breaking.
Since our motor is 100% electric and that we are using the sun as our power source, our vehicule releases no green house gases in the atmosphere, thus helping to preserve a healthy environment.
